Archibus-Serraview re-brands as SpaceIQ.

As Archibus continues to progress and embrace change, the company released an announcement a couple weeks ago that their new name, after acquiring the SpaceIQ company, would be SpaceIQ.

SpaceIQ now owns three different space management products: Archibus, Serraview, and SpaceIQ. All will maintain their same names, except for SpaceIQ, which will now be known as SiQ. This will avoid confusion between the company and the products.

SpaceIQ’s (formerly Archibus-Serraview) new company logo and software logos.

SpaceIQ hopes to provide a wide-range of facilities management product options to their current and future clients. Stay tuned on our blog for more updates!

ARCHIBUS and SerraView Merger

In December of 2018, ARCHIBUS underwent a significant change by merging with the IWMS company, Serraview. Founded in 2006, Serraview originated in Melbourne, Australia, and now has locations in Melbourne, New York, and London.

Serraview and IWMS

Serraview takes an IoT powered, SaaS approach to IWMS. The Serraview application itself focuses solely on what ARCHIBUS currently terms Space Planning and Management and Workplace Services; Serraview offers solutions to manage how space is used, where employees are located, how to move employee locations, how to deliver that data and information to employees, etc.

Products Available

ARCHIBUS and Serraview are currently working together on the combination of their services and products to provide clients with various solutions to meet their needs. Because Serraview focuses on Space Management and Workplace Services, the Serraview suite be available as one option to clients for Space Planning and Optimization and Workplace Services, while the ARCHIBUS suite will continue to maintain responsibility for the modules ARCHIBUS already offers.

Conversations with Todd: What is your favorite ARCHIBUS feature?

Transcript:

Todd: I like the flexibility of ARCHIBUS. Anything you want it to do, it can do. It comes with a lot of stuff out -of-the-box, but if you’ve got a report that you need to write, or a capability that you need to build, it can be used for that.

Conversations with Todd: How do you measure success?

Transcript:

Todd: I guess I measure success by use. Like if I build something and people use it, especially if they’re using it three years after I build it, that’s success. If I build it and they don’t use it, eh, it didn’t go so well.

Conversations with Todd: How can clients leverage ARCHIBUS the most?

Transcript:

Todd: I think taking it carefully. So, I think that one of the big mistakes people often make with IWMS and lots of other systems is that try and do too much at one time. So they bite off more than they can chew. I think that a really smart approach is to take it a little bit at a time and outline what you’re going to try to accomplish with the first wave and work really hard to get that right and once you’ve got that going, think about what’s going to come next.

Conversations with Todd: What benefits are realized using ARCHIBUS?

Transcript:

Todd: So I think every system’s implementation begins with what I call the “valley of despair” What they notice at first is that it’s harder to do the job the way that they’re being asked to do it now than it was before. And that’s not because the system makes it harder, it’s because their jobs are a little bit different. So, when they first start using ARCHIBUS it’s harder. That’s ok because when they get past that, it’s a lot easier once they’re used to that But everybody goes through a little bit of a dip before they notice the improvement that comes from using a new system.

Conversations with Todd: Does RSC have a competitive advantage?

Transcript:

Todd: A wealth of experience, so I think we have experience in a lot of different fields Bob and Geoff Dryer are both incredibly experienced ARCHIBUS professionals and have been doing this for many years. We’ve got facilities management folks that have been doing facilities management for a lot of years, I’ve been doing technology consulting and development for 15 years, so — experience. If you don’t want to run into problems that are commonly run into the first time through, we don’t, because we’ve been doing this a few times.

Conversations with Todd: Define the Implementation Process.

Transcript:

Todd: It depends on you a lot, it depends on our clients a lot, it depends on what they need. So the implementation process is a series of questions that we ask them about their needs and once we’ve determined what those are, we can plan a process for getting what they need set up..

Conversations with Todd: How long is a typical ARCHIBUS implementation?

Transcript:

Todd: So, again, that depends. It depends on what you need. If speed is important to you, we can get ARCHIBUS up and running in as little as six weeks if that’s what you want to do with ARCHIBUS. If it’s important that you be careful, that we go through a process of negotiation, especially with some of the core master data in the system that we’re setting up, that can take six months if we’re doing that carefully. But it kind of depends on what you need to use the system for.

Conversations with Todd: What is your favorite part of ARCHIBUS?

Transcript:

Todd: My current favorite thing in ARCHIBUS is Utilities and Energy Management, because we did a project to implement that for one of our government clients recently and I really like the analysis that’s coming out of it, some of the reports, and things that they’re able to do with that data that they couldn’t do before. It’s really cool to hear those stories, so that’s currently my favorite part of ARCHIBUS. I think it has a lot of cool features, that’s just what I work on most recently.
